Andrew Baum won the shot put to lead the River Otters on Saturday at the Peyton-Shotwell Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Baum posted two of Lewis & Clark's eight top-10 marks and the River Otters added four top-50 marks in program history. Saturday's meet provided Lewis & Clark a chance to compete against some new faces. Lewis & Clark competed against NCAA DI University of Washington, NCAA DII Seattle Pacific University and the four Northwest Conference schools located in Washington.
Baum defeated a field of 25 competitors in the shot put. The senior launched the shot put 14.85M (48-08.75 Feet) to win by over 10 inches. His PR mark moved him from 10
th to ninth all-time in program history. First year
Ewan Reid placed 22
nd in the event with a throw of 8.16M (26-09.25 Feet).
Baum also paced Lewis & Clark in the discus throw. He finished fourth overall with a mark of a 41.94M (137-07 Feet). Junior
Liam Stanley registered a heave of 29.85M (97-11 Feet) to finish 19
th. Reid placed 25
th with a mark of 28.26M (92-08 Feet).
First year
Cody Strozyk finished third out of 16 throwers in the javelin. The first year placed second among DIII competitors with a mark of 50.62M (166-01 Feet). His new PR mark moved him into 23
rd in program history.
Junior
Keegan Zaso led a quartet of River Otters in the long jump. Zaso placed fifth out of 31 jumpers with a mark of 6.67M (21-10.75 Feet). Senior
Jon Fritz placed second on the team and seventh overall with a leap of 6.61M (21-08.25 Feet). Sophomore
Kristopher Adams launched himself 6.15M (20-02.25 Feet) to edge senior
Jordan Lahusky (6.14M/20-01.75 Feet). The duo finished in 15
th and 16
th places.
Junior
Colin Shimabukuro posted the top finish by a Lewis & Clark track athlete. The junior led seven Lewis & Clark competitors in the 800M. He crossed the line eighth out of 37 runners with a time of 1:59.53. His mark was the top finish amongst all NCAA DIII competitors. Junior
Gavin Sellers finished second on the team and 16
th overall (2:03.49). Junior
Emil Miller came across third on the team and 22
nd overall (2:05.89). Sophomore
AJ Gibbs placed 25
th in the event with a mark of 2:07.70. Junior
Jordan Wu (2:08.46), senior
Joseph Naylor (2:10.61) and junior
Teagon Aasen (2:19.30) finished 28
th, 32

th overall.
Juniors
Quinn Higgins and
Evan Markelz competed against a loaded field in the 5,000M. The duo finished first and second among NCAA DIII runners. Higgins (14:52.22) edged Markelz (14:53.31) with the duo placing 10
thand 11
th overall.
Gibbs paced eight Lewis & Clark runners in the 1,500M. The sophomore finished first among NCAA DIII runners with a time of 4:05.96 in the event. Miller finished just behind Gibbs in 13
th, as he crossed the line in 4:06.65. Naylor (4:19.43) and Wu (4:20.27) finished back-to-back in 32
nd and 33
rd overall.
Fritz led a quartet of River Otters in the 100M Dash. Fritz placed 11
th out of 46 runners in the event with a time of 11.39. Sophomore
Jaden Mwendapole finished 14
th with a mark of 11.50. Lahusky crossed the line in 11.56 to finish 15
th overall. Senior
Zaren Crockett posted a time of 12.36 to finish 37
th.
First year
Forrest Holt represented Lewis & Clark in the 400M. The first year crossed the line in 53.29 to finish 16
th out of 24 runners.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Zaso and Fritz both cracked the top-20 in program history in the long jump. Zaso moved up to 16th all-time and Fritz now sits in 20th place in program history.
- Sellers (4:23.53) and senior Theron Plumb (4:28.60) finished 41st and 47th overall in the 1,500M. Junior John Blockhus (4:29.72) and Aasen (4:39.59) finished 49th and 55th in the event.
- Baum's throw in the shot put puts him fourth in the Northwest Conference in the event this season.
- Strozyk sits seventh in the NWC this season in the javelin after Saturday.

Lewis & Clark will travel to Linfield University on Saturday, when they compete at the Jenn Boyman Memorial Invite.
