PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College men's outdoor track & field earned three wins and posted 12 top-10 finishes on Saturday at the L&C Electric Forest Open Meet.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior
Jordan Lahusky, junior
Keegan Zaso and the 4x100M Relay Team all recorded first-place finishes in the team's first home meet of the year at the newly named Eldon &
David Fix Track.
Lewis & Clark registered their first win of the day in the second track event of the morning. The 4x100M Relay quartet of senior
Jon Fritz, sophomore
Jaden Mwendapole, Lahusky and first year
Zane Bryant combined for a season-best time of 42.37. They finished 1.06 seconds ahead of second-place Clackamas C.C. and first out of four teams.
Lahusky earned his individual win in the 400M. The senior sprinter defeated a field of 10 sprinters with a season-best mark of 49.44.
Zaso closed out the day with a win in the final event of the afternoon. The junior placed first out of nine jumpers in the triple jump. He posted his winning jump on his third attempt of the day. Zaso leapt 13.76M (45-01.75 Feet) to take the win.
Fritz notched a second-place finish in the long jump. The senior finished second out 18 entrants in the event. He posted a PR jump of 6.56M (21-06.25 Feet) to place second. Sophomore Kris Adams finished 10
th overall when he launched himself 6.03M (19-09.50 Feet).
Fritz also finished fifth overall in the 110M Hurdles with a time of 16.15.
Senior
Andrew Baum led Lewis & Clark in the throwing events. Baum finished third out of 21 competitors in the shot put. He posted a PR mark of 14.72M (48-03.50 Feet) to finish behind a pair of throwers from NAIA College of Idaho.
Baum also posted a top-10 mark in the discus. The senior recorded a mark of 38.33M (125-09 Feet) to place eighth out of 26 throwers. Junior
Liam Stanley placed 19
th overall with a PR throw of 31.82M (104-04 Feet). First year
Ewan Reid launched the discus 26.35M (86-05 Feet) to finish 25
th overall.
First-year
Knox Orchard posted the team's first top-three finish of the day. Orchard finished second overall in the 3,000M Steeplechase with a time of 10:43.39.
Junior
Quinn Higgins led a trio of Lewis & Clark runners in the 1,500M. Higgins ran a season-best time of 3:57.93 to finish eighth out of 27 competitors. Junior
Evan Markelz came in 11
th place with a time of 4:11.11. Junior
Colin Shimabukuro crossed the line in 4:14.12 to finish 16
th overall.
Mwendapole recorded the team's final, individual top-10 finish. The sophomore posted a time of 11.31 to finish in a tie for 10
th in the 100M. Senior
Zaren Crockett crossed the line in 12.23 to place 29
th.
Markelz paced eight Lewis & Clark runners in the 5,000M. The junior finished 16
th out of 51 student-athletes with a time of 15:16.79. Higgins (15:21.05) and junior
Emil Miller (15:21.11 – PR) finished back-to-back in 19

Jordan Wu paced Lewis & Clark in the 800M. The junior notched a season-best time of 2:04.29 to finish 11

Teagon Aasen (2:11.67 – PR) finished 15
th and 17
th overall in the event.
Bryant represented Lewis & Clark in the 200M. The first year finished in 19
th place with a time of 25.63.
In the final event of the day, Lewis & Clark placed fourth out of six teams in the 4x400M Relay. The quartet of Miller, Wu, Aasen and Shimabukuro combined for a time of 3:47.20.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The River Otters' 4x100M Relay team posted the fourth-fastest time in program history. Their time of 42.37 is the fastest mark by a Lewis & Clark team since 2018.
- Baum moved into the 10th in school history in the shot put. He's the first thrower since 2000 to crack the top-10 in the event.
- Fritz moved into 23rd place in program history in the long jump (21-06.25 Feet).
- Miller posted the 39th-fastest time in school history in the 5,000M (15:21.11).
