Women's T&F Posts Six Top-50 Marks In Program History At L&C Electric Forest Open

Junior Callow Soto recorded the ninth-fastest time in program history in the 400M

PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College women's outdoor track & field senior Elsie Chin won the 400M Hurdles and the River Otters posted six top-35 marks in program history on Saturday at the L&C Electric Forest Open Meet.Ā Ā

HOW IT HAPPENEDĀ

Women's track & field posted 19 top-10 finishes in their first home meet of the season at the newly renamed Eldon and David Fix Track.Ā

Chin finished first out of four sprinters in the 400M Hurdles. The senior posted a season-best time of 1:05.99 to finish in first place by over four seconds. Junior Carolyn Mayberry came across in second place with a season-best mark of 1:10.54. First year Sofia Figueroa placed fourth overall with a time of 1:13.84.Ā

Junior Callow Soto posted a PR time to finish second out of 10 in the 400M. The junior broke 60 seconds for the first time in her career with a mark of 59.73. She finished second only to NCAA DI University of Portland's Rose Perotin (58.20).Ā

Three Lewis & Clark throwers finished in the top-10 in the shot put. Junior Divinity Singleton launched the implement 11.31M (37-01.25 Feet) to finish fifth out of 15 throwers. First year Ky Roussin notched a PR mark of 10.55M (34-07.50 Feet) to place eighth overall. Fellow first year Lillian Morlan added a PR mark of her own. She finished in 10thĀ place with a heave of 9.90M (32-05.75 Feet). Senior Nia Pile posted a mark of 9.87M (32-04.75 Feet) to finish in 12thĀ place.

Junior Lillian Besa led five River Otters in the discus. The junior placed seventh out of 18 competitors in the event with a throw of 35.40M (116-01 Feet). Singleton recorded a mark of 31.91M (104-08 Feet) to finish in ninth place. Senior Reilyn Sabado posted a season-best throw of 30.74M (100-10 Feet) to place 10th. Roussin registered a PR mark of 27.63M (90-07 Feet) to finish 14thĀ overall. Morlan added a PR throw of 23.11M (75-10 Feet) to place 17thĀ overall.Ā

Senior Anli Davis posted a pair of top-five finishes and competed in three events on Saturday. She finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 9.91M (36-06.25 Feet). The senior added a fifth-place finish in the pole vault. Davis cleared 2.23M (7-03.75 Feet) on her second jump to post a PR in the event. She wrapped up her day with a 12thĀ place finish in the long jump with a leap of 4.34M (14-03.00 Feet).Ā

Lewis & Clark added their final second-place finish of the day in the 4x400M Relay. The River Otters' quartet of Chin, senior Miriam Reside, Soto and senior Malia Heien posted a time of 4:05.83. They finished second behind the University of Portland's relay team.Ā

Heien led a quintet of Lewis & Clark runners in the 800M. The senior posted a season-best mark of 2:17.88 to finish fifth out of 19 competitors. Reside added a season-best time of her own, as she crossed the line in 2:23.68 to finish in ninth place. Junior Nadia Cota (2:33.07 – season-best) and sophomore Maeva Conroy (2:33.08 – PR) finished back-to-back in 12thĀ and 13thĀ places. Junior Mackenzie Olver came across in 2:43.63 to place 16th.Ā

First year Sofia Figueroa notched a fifth-place finish in the 110M Hurdles. Figueroa posted a time of 17.80 to place fifth out of seven runners.Ā

Sophomore Talia Tomhave led a trio of River Otters in the 5,000M. Tomhave registered a time of 20:14.84 to finish eighth overall. Senior Emogene Lutz posted a time of 20:17.12 to come across in ninth place. Senior Ali Kerschner added a PR time of 20:52.05 to finish in 10thĀ place.Ā

Senior AJ Schroeder represented Lewis & Clark in the 200M. The senior posted a time of 31.32 to finish 16thoverall.Ā

  • Soto cracked the top-10 in program history in the 400M. The junior ranks ninth all-time in the event (59.73).Ā 
  • Davis' mark in the pole vault moved her up to 21stĀ in program history in the event.Ā 
  • Roussin posted the 22nd-best mark in program history in the shot put and the 32nd-best throw in the discus.Ā
