Mischa Vanek scored in the 84th minute to help Lewis & Clark College women's soccer earn a 1-1 tie against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Monday at Nakasone Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Vanek scored her first goal of the season at 83:04 to erase a 1-0 deficit. First-year goalkeepers
Lucia Barrón Núñez and
Mallory Symons combined for 11 saves as the River Otters finished their two-game Southern California trip with a tie.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps recorded the first nine shots of the game, but Barrón Núñez made five saves to keep the Athenas off the scoreboard in the opening 45 minutes. She stopped Avni Udupa in the 11th minute and Elsie Lindeman twice in the opening 22 minutes. Frankie Fragola hit the crossbar at 31:41 before Barrón Núñez made two more saves, back-to-back, late in the half.
Lewis & Clark earned its lone corner kick of the game in the 38th minute but did not record a first-half shot. The teams went into halftime scoreless.
The Athenas took a 1-0 lead at 56:21. Udupa sent a cross to Jordan Yates, who scored from 10 yards out.
Lewis & Clark put its first shot on goal in the 64th minute when sophomore
Claire Anderson forced a save from CMS goalkeeper Andra Marinescu. Barrón Núñez added saves in the 65th and 73rd minutes to keep the River Otters within one goal.
The River Otters produced three shots in a 45-second span to tie the game. Senior
Rowan Levandoski had an attempt saved at 82:19 before her free kick was blocked at 82:55. The blocked kick landed about six yards from goal, where a CMS defender played the ball back toward the net. The ball hit the post and fell to Vanek, who scored with her right foot from inside six yards to make it 1-1.
Symons replaced Barrón Núñez in goal in the 85th minute and made two saves over the final five minutes. She stopped Sena Howell at 87:13 and Giorgi Cucci at 88:35 to preserve the tie.
