Golf Wraps Up Wildcats Invitational With Several Career-Best Scores

Sophomore Natalie Nuñez Lezama (85, +13) and senior Ben Oates (149, +5) posted career-low scores

McMINNVILLE, Ore.—First year Trae Fredrickson carded a 73 (+1) on Monday, to lead Lewis & Clark golf on Day Two of the Wildcats Invitational. 
 
THE BASICS 
 
Men's Golf "B" Team – 7th out of 8 Teams – 623 (309-314) +47 
Women's Golf – No Team Score 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
 
Seniors Millen Mistry, Ben Oates and sophomore Lydia Schwenker (graduating early) all played what is likely to be their final collegiate rounds on Monday. 
 
B Team Recap 
 
Sophomore Moody led the "B" Team and finished tied for 13th after putting together one of the best tournaments of his career. The sophomore started Monday slowly with a pair of bogeys and a double bogey in his first three holes. He was nearly perfect the rest of the way. Moody racked up a team-high four birdies, including three on the back nine, nine pars and one double bogey over his final 14 holes. He went two-under on the back nine to post a 75 (+3). Moody finished the weekend with a 148 (+4). 
 
First year Brady Gless finished second on the team on Monday and second across 36 holes. He posted an 80 (+8) on Monday with a birdie on the Par 4 eighth hole. Gless settled down across the final eight holes and recorded six pars. He ended the weekend in a tie for 39th with a score of 156 (+12). 
 
Junior Kenji Pickeral wrapped up the weekend in 50th place. Pickeral placed fourth on the team on Monday and third for the weekend with a two-day score of 161 (+17). He registered a pair of birdies to start the back nine and finished the final nine holes at +3. Pickeral posted a score of 82 (+10) on Monday.  
 
First year Nate Loew came in third on the team on Day Two with a round of 81 (+9). The first year notched a pair of birdies and tacked on eight pars. He posted a two-day total of 162 (+18) to place tied for 51st overall. 
 
Mistry placed fifth on the team. He opened his round on Monday with a birdie and added a second on the Par 5 seventh hole. Mistry started the day by going +1 over his first seven holes. He ended Day Two with an 87 (+15). For the tournament, Mistry placed 59th with a two-day score of 169 (+25). 
 
MEN'S INDIES 
 
Fredrickson registered the lowest score on the team and all three River Otters indies on the finished in the top-20. 
 
Fredrickson carded a 73 (+1) on Monday to finish tied for 10th for the best score on the day. The first year posted the lone eagle of the tournament for Lewis & Clark on his second hole of the day (Par 5 11th). He recorded two birdies, one eagle, three bogeys and one double bogey to finish the two-day tournament in a tie for 16th. Fredrickson posted a two-day total of 149 (+5). 
 
Sophomore Charlie Hageman placed tied for 10th overall with a two-day score of 147 (+3). On Monday, Hageman carded a 75 (+3). He started Day Two on the back nine and after bogeying the first hole, he posted nine pars and one birdie over his next 10 holes. He ran into trouble on the back nine with four bogeys but added two birdies to finish the day tied for second on the team. 
 
Oates closed out the best tournament of his career with a 76 (+4) on Monday. He carded a double bogey on the first hole but would register one birdie, 14 pars and two bogeys the rest of the way. He finished the tournament in a tie for 16th with a score of 149 (+5). 
 
WOMEN'S INDIES
 
Sophomore Natalie Nuñez Lezama made a huge leap from Day One to Day Two to lead the women's team. 
 
Nuñez Lezama shaved off 12 strokes from her score on Monday. She posted 11 pars, including six in a seven-hole span on the back nine, to card a career-best round of 85 (+13). The sophomore finished the two-day tournament in ninth place with a two-day total of 182 (+38). 
 
Schwenker carded a 95 (+23) for the second-straight day. She finished the two-day tournament with a 190 (+46). Her full scorecard from Monday is not available and this release will be updated when it becomes available.
 
BY THE NUMBERS 
  • Nuñez Lezama posted the lowest-round of her career (85, +13) on Monday. Her two-day total of +38 also was a new career-best by two strokes. 
  • Fredrickson tied his career-low round on Monday. He also shot a 73 (+1) in the first round of the George Fox Invitational. 
  • Oates' two-day total of 149 (+5) beat his previous career-low tournament score by five strokes. He shot a 73 (+1) on Sunday to set a new career-low and matched his previous career-low round (76, +4) on Monday. 
  • Moody finished tied for first in the field with his nine birdies across 36 holes. 
  • Fredrickson finished tied for first in eagles (one) and for the fewest double bogeys (one). 
WHAT'S NEXT 
 
Lewis & Clark will head to Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club on Sunday and Monday for the 2026 Northwest Conference Championship Tournament.
