Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Places Six Student-Athletes on Academic All-District Team

Seniors Elsie Chin and Malia Heien each were honored for the third-straight season

GREENWOOD, Ind.—Six Lewis & Clark College women's cross country and track & field student-athletes were named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the CSC announced last week.Ā

Seniors Elsie Chin and Malia Heien were honored for a third-straight season. Junior Rose Dinh joined Chin and Heien as repeat award winners. Senior Emogene Lutz and juniors Carolyn Mayberry and Callow Soto each earned the award for the first time in their careers.Ā

The Academic All-District Teams recognize the top student-athletes for their performance on-and-off the field. To be eligible, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and must be ranked in the top-50 in the region in at least one individual event across the three seasons (cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field). Schools could only nominate a maximum of six student-athletes on both the men's and women's teams.

Chin is a Biology major hailing from Portland, Oregon. The senior notched four top-50 marks in the West Region to match men's track & field senior Jon Fritz and Heien as the only three-time Academic All-District honorees in program history. Chin posted the 10th-fastest 400M time (1:00.76) in the West during the Indoor Season. She finished fourth in the 400M hurdles (1:03.41), 13thĀ in the 400M (58.36) and 41stĀ in the 800M (2:21.36) during Outdoor Track. Chin earned a trio of All-Conference awards at the Northwest Conference Championship Meet. She placed third in the 400M hurdles (1:03.41), fourth in the 400M (58.36) and ran the opening leg of the 4x400M Relay that finished third overall (3:57.41). Chin earned All-Region honors in the 400M Hurdles (Outdoors) and the 4x400M Relay (Outdoors) and Distance Medley Relay (Indoors) during her senior season. She closes out her career as the program record holder in the 400M Hurdles (Outdoors) and 600M (Indoors) and a member of the fastest 4x400M Relay in both Indoor and Outdoor program history.Ā

Dinh is a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major hailing from Saco, Maine. The junior, who graduated a year early, posted four top-50 marks in the West Region to repeat as an Academic All-District honoree. She notched two top-50 marks during both the Indoor and Outdoor Seasons. In the Winter, Dinh placed eighth in the long jump (5.19M/17-00.50 Feet) and 29thĀ in the 60M hurdles (9.84). She tacked on the 14th-best long jump (5.39M/17-08.25 Feet) and 49th-fastest 100M Hurdles (16.58) during the Spring. Dinh garnered her first career All-Conference and All-Region honors during her final season. She placed fourth overall in the long jump (5.39M) at the NWC Championship Meet to earn Second Team All-Conference accolades. She was named to the Indoor All-Region Team for her eighth-place finish in the long jump.Ā

Heien is a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major hailing from Denver, Colorado. She was the lone Lewis & Clark student-athlete to post top-50 marks in all three seasons. The senior notched a top-50 mark in Cross Country and Indoor Track and two more during the Outdoor Season. Heien earned a trip to Cross Country Nationals for a third-straight year when she placed 11thĀ at Regionals. The senior crossed the line in 22:28.2 to place 11thĀ out of 162 competitors. During the Indoor Season, Heien notched the fifth-fastest 800M (2:19.76) at the 2026 Whitworth Indoor Invite. She capped off her career with the fourth-fastest 800M (2:13.91) and 10th-fastest 1,500M (4:39.45) during the Spring Season. She posted her first two career NWC Titles at the 2026 NWC Championship Meet. Heien won the 800M (2:17.77) and 1,500M (4:39.45) and served as the anchor leg on the 4x400M Relay that finished third overall. She notched five All-Region honors during her senior campaign to bring her career total to 14. Heien closed out her career as the program-record holder in both Indoor and Outdoor Track in the 800M and 4x400M Relay and the Indoor Distance Medley Relay.Ā

Lutz is a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major hailing from Salem, Oregon. The senior earned her first career Academic All-District honors after posting two top-50 marks in the West Region. She notched the 50th-fastest 3,000M time during the Indoor season. Lutz crossed the line in 11:58.61 at the 2026 Whitworth Indoor Invite on February 14. She added the 45th-fastest mark in the 10,000M in the Spring. She notched her fastest time in over three years - when she posted a mark of 41:40.91 at the NWC Championship Meet on April 25. Lutz's time at the NWC Championship Meet helped her finish the race 13thĀ overall.Ā

Mayberry is a Mathematics major, with a minor in Japanese and Computer Science, hailing from Northridge, California. The junior earned her first career Academic All-District honors after posting a trio of top-50 marks. She notched a PR time of 10.35 in the 60M hurdles during Indoor Track to finish 44thĀ in the West Region. Mayberry added the 39th-fastest time in the 400M Hurdles (1:10.17) and the 50th-fastest mark in the 100M Hurdles (16.62) in Outdoor Track. Mayberry competed in three events at the NWC Championship Meet. She placed 12thĀ in the 400M hurdles (1:10.27), 22ndĀ in the 100M hurdles (16.78) and helped the 4x100M relay team (51.53) place seventh overall.Ā

Soto is a Rhetoric & Media Studies major, with a minor in Hispanic Studies, hailing from Lake Country, Wisconsin. The junior took home her first career Academic All-District honors after notching three top-50 marks. She finished the Indoor season 46thĀ in the 200M with a 27.35 at the 2026 Whitworth Indoor Invite. Soto wrapped the Outdoor Season 18thĀ in the 400M (58.82) and 38thĀ in the 400M hurdles (1:10.16). She earned a pair of All-Conference honors at the NWC Championship Meet. Soto placed fourth in the 400M (58.82) to earn her first career All-Conference honors in an individual event. She also helped the 4x400M Relay Team finish third overall. Soto earned All-Region accolades in both the Distance Medley Relay (Indoor) and 4x400M Relay (Outdoor).Ā Ā
