CAREER AT NATIONALSÂ
Â
Buese will be competing at the seventh NCAA DIII Championship Meet of her career. This year's Outdoor National Championship Meet will mark the sixth-consecutive National Championship Meet she has qualified for. She will be racing in the ninth and tenth National Championship races of her career. Thus far, she has earned All-American honors six times and finished in the top-eight (First Team All-American) in four of her five career races at Track Nationals.Â
Â
Buese has already put together a banner year. She placed 17
th at Cross Country Nationals in the Fall to match her best-ever finish in cross country. She added a pair of All-American honors during the Indoor Track season. Buese matched her best-ever finish in track, when she finished third overall in the 5K. She came back the next day and secured the final First Team All-American spot in the 3,000M - by finishing eighth overall.Â
Â
The senior is aiming for her second-straight All-American honors in the 10K and her first career All-American accolades in the outdoor 5K. th overall. With a top-16 finish on Saturday, Buese will have finished with All-American honors in every event she has ever competed in on the National Stage (Cross Country 2x, Indoor 5K 2x, Indoor 3K, Outdoor 10K).Â
Â
L&C RANK ALL-TIME
Â
Buese is already tied for the most All-American honors in cross country and track & field program history. The senior tied the program mark of six All-American honors at Indoor Nationals in March. She matched L&C Hall of Famers Chris Miller and Paige Daugherty Westcott who each finished their careers with six All-American awards. With two All-American honors this week, she can match Westcott for the program-mark for most All-American awards in track & field.Â
Â
Buese needs one All-American honor to tie Hall of Fame swimmer Debbie Heim Martinez for the most All-American awards in school history. Heim Martinez racked up seven All-American awards during her career in the late 1980s and early 1990s.Â
