SUNRIVER, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's golf team ended the season on Sunday afternoon at the Northwest Conference Championship tournament, the third and final conference tournament. The Pioneers finished fifth with a 675.
The George Fox Bruins won the tournament with a 622, which earns them just enough points to be named the Northwest Conference Champions. Whitman finished in second place with a 653, while Whitworth took third (657) and Pacific Lutheran fourth (658). Behind the Pioneers were Linfield in sixth place (754), Willamette ended in seventh (780) and Pacific finished eighth (857). Puget Sound did not record a score.
With the point total of all three tournaments, the Pioneers end the season in fifth place in the NWC.
Claire Burke paced the way for the Pioneers with a fourth place finish in this weekends tournament. The sophomore shot a 156 (80 + 76), which put her just five strokes out of first place. After the conclusion of all three tournaments, Burke was named to the NWC All-Conference First-Team, which is comprised of the top-six golfers in the NWC.
Arielle Valdez ended the tournament with a 171 (83 + 88), as did teammate Sofia Vigil (85 + 86). The score put both players in a tie for 19th place. Abbi Rautenberg rounded out the team score with a 177 (88 + 89), which earned her 26th place.
Sydney Maluenda of George Fox won the tournament with a 151, while Hailey Ostrom (George Fox) finished second with a 154 and Lou Points (Whitman) took third with a 155.
