HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis & Clark College women's golf finished third as a team on Sunday at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club, to help solidify their standings in the NWC Season Standings. The River Otters, who came into the weekend in third place, extended their lead to 11 strokes over fourth-place Whitman and 26 strokes over fifth-place Pacific University.
Jani and Yoder each shot a 79 (+8) on Sunday to finish Day One in a tie for seventh overall. The pair are just three strokes off the top of the leaderboard.
After bogeying the opening hole, Jani settled in and posted four-straight pars and a birdie on the Par 5 15
thhole. She tacked on six more pars to finish her round with 10 on the day. Yoder led the team with three birdies on the day. The first year birdied three Par 4s and tacked on five pars on Sunday.
Sophomore
Evie Denton placed third on the team and tied for 16
th overall. She notched an 83 (+12) on Sunday. After starting +4 through her first three holes, she recorded four-straight pars and a birdie to help wrap up the back nine (+4).
First year
Darwyn Kormany carded a 84 (+13) on Day One. Kormany placed fourth on the team and tied for 19
th in the field. The first year recorded a birdie on the Par 5 eighth hole and added eight pars. After starting slow, she shot a 37 (+1) on the front nine.
Sophomore
Julia Klenk placed fifth on the team and in a tie for 28
th overall. The sophomore shot a 90 (+19) on Sunday. She posted six pars during round one, including back-to-back pars on the seventh and eighth holes.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Whitworth University (+29) holds a five-stroke lead over George Fox University (+34) at the top of the team standings. Lewis & Clark is just seven strokes back of the Bruins and 12 strokes back of the leaders. Whitman (+48), Pacific (+55) and Pacific Lutheran (+61) sit fourth through sixth in the team standings after Day One.
- Yoder finished tied for second in the field with three birdies on Day One.
- Lewis & Clark finished tied for second as a team with six birdies on Sunday and fourth with 35 pars. They also placed tied for second for the fewest double bogeys (11).
- Yoder (4.00, Even) led the field on Par 4s on Sunday. Jani placed tied for second with a 4.22 average (+2).
- Jani (10) was one of six players to record double-digit pars on Sunday.

Lewis & Clark will close out their season on Monday, when they tee off at 9 a.m. for round two of the NWC Championship Tournament at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.
