SUNRIVER, Ore. – After the opening round of the third and final Northwest Conference Championship tournament, the Lewis & Clark women's golf team sits in fifth place with a 336.
The George Fox Bruins are in first place with a 319, while Pacific Lutheran is not far behind with a 325. Whitman is in third with a 333, while Whitworth is in fourth with a 335 and the Pioneers are right behind them with their 336. Linfield is in sixth place with a 379, Willamette is in seventh (382) and Pacific is in eighth (440). Puget Sound did not register a score.
Claire Burke, who is in the All-Conference hunt, led the Pioneers with an 80, which puts her in sole possession of sixth place. Arielle Valdez, who is also in All-Conference consideration, finished three strokes behind Burke with an 83. Sofia Vigil finished with an 85, while Abbi Rautenberg concluded the opening round with an 88.
Paige Henry of Pacific Lutheran is leading the field with a 76, while Nicole Lomax (Whitworth) and Loreece Magsanide (George Fox) are tied for second place with a 77.
The field returns to the course on Sunday, April 26 for the final round of the tournament.
