SPANAWAY, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark women's golf team held onto fourth place at the Northwest Conference Spring Classic after shooting a 323 in the second round to finish with a 650.
Whitman and Whitworth tied for first place with a 629, while George Fox fell to third with a 631. The Pioneers held on for fourth, while Pacific Lutheran finished fifth (662), Willamette took sixth (724), Linfield finished seventh (730), Puget Sound eighth (788) and Pacific ninth (797).
Phoebe Nguyen of Whitman won the tournament after finishing even with a 144. Chelsey Bayley of Whitworth and Sydney Maluenda of George Fox tied for second with a 153.
Claire Burke had the best second round for the Pioneers with a 74, moving her into sole possession of sixth place (82 + 74 = 156). Arielle Valdez continued her consistency for the Pioneers, finishing with a 161 after shooting an 81 and an 80.
Abbi Rautenberg ended the tournament tied for 19th place with a 166 (79 + 87), while Sofia Vigil was just outside the top-20 with a 167 (85 + 82), finishing tied for 22nd.
