BANKS, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark women's golf team sits in fifth place after day one of the Pacific Invitational that featured seven of the Pioneers Northwest Conference competitors. The Pioneers shot a 353 on day one at Quail Valley.
Whitman sits in first place with a 309, while Willamette is in second place with a 324 and Pacific Lutheran rounds out the top three with a 333. Whitworth sits 19 strokes ahead of the Pioneers in fourth place with a 334. Linfield is in sixth place with a 374, Pacific is in seventh with a 403 and Puget Sound is in eighth with a 440.
Arielle Valdez had the best round for the Pioneers with a 78, which puts her seven strokes out of first place with a 78. Kelley Sweeney of Whitman is the leader after day one with a 71.
Sofia Vigil finds herself in a three-way tie for 14th place with an 85, while Claire Burke sits two strokes back with an 87. Abbi Rautenberg rounds out the Pioneers team score on day one with a 103.
The team returns to the course on Sunday to conclude the invite.
