SPANAWAY, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark women's golf team finished the Pacific Lutheran Invitational in second place after turning in a team score of 659 (332+327).
Whitworth won the invite with a two-day team score of 628 (318+310). Pacific Lutheran tied the Pioneers for second place, while Linfield took home fourth place (733) and Pacific fifth (769). Puget Sound and Trinity Lutheran did not turn in team scores.
Sophomore Claire Burke shaved off three strokes from her day one score, finishing in a three-way tie for second place with a 155 (79+76). Teammate Arielle Valdez was one of the players that Burke finished tied with for second place. Valdez ended the invite with a 78 on day one before turning in a 77 on the final day of competition. Sofia Vigil also finished in the top-10 for the Pioneers, taking home eighth place with a 163 (81+82). Abbi Rautenberg rounded out the team score with a 186 (94+92) which was good enough for 20th place.
Chelsea Bailey of Whitworth won the invite wiht a 148 after turning in a 74 on both days.
The Pioneers return to action on Sept. 20 at the Pacific Invitational at Quail Valley.
