KENNEWICK, Wash. - Claire Burke ended the first round of the Whitworth Invitational in a three-way tie for sixth place for the Lewis & Clark women's golf team on Saturday.
The Pioneers sits in fourth place with a team score of 350, while the Whitman Missionaries and Whitworth Pirates are in a two-way tie for first place with a 318. The Pacific Lutheran Lutes are right in front of the Pioneers with a 330.
Burke was the teams top finisher, ending the day seven over par. Sofia Vigil was the next finisher with an 81, which put her in a tie for ninth place. Arielle Valdez concluded the round with a solid 85 for 14th place, while Abbi Rautenberg rounded out the team score with a 105.
Mical Schuster of Whitworth and Kelly Sweeny of Whitman lead the pack with 75's, while Maggie Harlow of Linfield is in third with a 77.
The team will conclude the invite on Sunday, Oct. 5.
