Valdez Solid on Day Two of GFU Invite for Women's Golf

ALOHA, Ore. - Arielle Valdez put together a solid performance for the Lewis & Clark women's golf team on Sunday afternoon on day two of the George Fox Invitational. As a team the Pioneers finished fifth with a 707.

The host Bruins won the invite with a 625, while Whitman took home second with a 638 and Pacific Lutheran finished third with a 667. Willamette ended in fourth place with a 690, the Pios were fifth and Pacific ended with a 787 for sixth place.

Sydney Maluenda of George Fox won the invite with a 145, while teammates Hailey Ostrom took home second (151) and Kristin Elich and Loreece Magsanide, along with Phoebe Nguyen of Whitman each finished third (158).

Claire Burke was the Pioneers top finisher with a 161, shooting a 79 on day one and an 82 on the final day for ninth place. Valdez had the best day two for the Pioneers with a 77. Paired with her 87 from the first day Valdez finished with a 164 for 12th place.

Sofia Vigil also finished in the top-20 for the Pioneers with a 171 (89 + 82) for 20th place. Abbi Rautenberg rounded out the Pioneers team score with a 211.

The team returns to action on Oct. 25-26 for the Northwest Conference Fall Classic.
