ALOHA, Ore. - Claire Burke is just six strokes out of first place at the George Fox Invitational, which the Lewis & Clark women's golf team kicked off today. Burke currently sits in seventh place with a 79, while the Pioneers shot a 360 as a team.
The host Bruins are currently in the lead with 310, while the Whitman Missionaries are in second place with a 311 and the Pacific Lutheran Lutes are in third with a 331. Willamette currently sits in fourth with a 346, while the Pioneers are in fifth and the Pacific Boxers are in sixth (388).
Sydney Malunenda of George Fox is the tournaments top finisher on day one with a 73, while teammate Hailey Ostrom is in second with a 74, and Lou Points of Whitman is in third with a 76.
Behind Burke is Arielle Valdez with a 87, while Sofia Vigil is just two strokes back with an 89. Abbi Rautenberg rounds out the team score with a 105.
The team will conclude the tournament on Sunday, Oct. 12.
