Maggie O'Leary set the program record for career shutouts in game one and Lewis & Clark College softball's offense came alive on Sunday to earn the season-sweep of host Willamette University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
O'Leary posted her second shutout of the weekend and seventh of her career to break a deadlock with Liz Coburn ('01) for first all-time. The senior allowed three singles and struck out two, over seven innings, to lower her season ERA to 2.85.
After scoring three runs through the first 14 innings on Saturday, Lewis & Clark erupted for 15 runs over 13 innings on Sunday to complete the four-game sweep.
Junior
Makena Dahir led the offense with two doubles, a home run, two RBI and a pair of runs scored.
GAME ONE RECAP
Lewis & Clark scored early and often and O'Leary dominated the Bearcats to secure the series win in Sunday's opener.
O'Leary retired the side in order three times and allowed just one baserunner to reach second base in her third win of the weekend.
Dahir blasted her eighth home run of the season to finish the game 1-3 with a run scored and two RBI. Senior
Emily Patton tacked on a base hit, two runs scored and a walk. Senior
Madison Scroggins chipped in a team-high two runs.
The River Otters grabbed the lead in the second. Lewis & Clark loaded the bases on walks to
Harper Campanella and
Cami Restagno and a Dahir hit by pitch. Senior
McKenna Zehnder made it 1-0 with a sacrifice fly to center to score pinch runner
Meeghan Meagher.
The visitors doubled their lead in the third. Scroggins reach on a fielder's choice, stole second and moved to third on a Patton lineout. She raced home on a passed ball for a 2-0 advantage.
Willamette had their best chance to score in the fourth. Emma Elliott led off with a hit by pitch but was thrown out trying to steal second by
Kodie Ancheta. The next two batters each singled but O'Leary settled in with a popup and a flyout to get out of the inning.
Dahir made it 4-0 in the fifth. With Patton (leadoff walk) on third and two down, Dahir belted a two-run homer to left field.
Lewis & Clark tacked on two more runs in the seventh. First year
Kara Kahahawai worked a leadoff walk and Patton followed with a bunt single. Campanella made it 5-0 with an RBI single and senior
Tallulah Sickels added a pinch-hit RBI single to score Patton.
GAME TWO RECAP
Lewis & Clark used a pair of four-run innings and a strong outing from senior
Charlize Pope, to earn their third four-game NWC series sweep of the season.
Pope held Willamette to three hits, two walks and one run in five innings to earn her third win of the year. She added one strikeout. Junior
Ryan Jurischk came on to pitch the sixth and limited the Bearcats to one hit.
Nine Lewis & Clark players recorded hits in the win with Ancheta and Dahir leading the way. Ancheta went 2-3 with a run scored, two RBI and a double. Dahir added two doubles and two runs scored.
Seniors
Gina Ozuna and
Lola Jarrette (one run), Sickels, Restagno and Campanella all added one hit and one RBI.
The River Otters grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second. Dahir led off with a double, took third on a Restagno sac bunt and scored on an RBI from senior
Lacey Marglin.
Lewis & Clark posted their first, four-run frame in the fourth. With the score tied 1-1, the visitors used three hits and a walk to grab a 5-1 lead. Campanella worked a walk to lead off the inning and Dahir followed with a double. Restagno drove in Meagher, who came on to pinch run for Campanella, to make it 2-1. With one out, Dahir beat a throw home on a Zehnder RBI grounder to make it 3-1. Ancheta added an RBI double and Ozuna put down a suicide squeeze bunt to drive in the fifth run.
The River Otters tacked on four more runs in the sixth to earn their third mercy-rule win of the year. First year
Cici Fortuno led off the inning with a single and Jarrette followed with a pinch-hit triple to start the scoring in the inning. Ancheta followed with an RBI single to make it 7-1. After an Ozuna single put runners on the corners, Sickels came through with an RBI single to shortstop. Campanella capped off the scoring with an RBI single to center to plate Sickels.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Four Lewis & Clark pitchers combined to post a 0.50 ERA across 28 innings (two runs) against Willamette. The quartet held Willamette to a .202 batting average and just three extra-base hits (all doubles). Lewis & Clark committed just one error on the weekend.
- Dahir finished the weekend 5-12 (.417) with two doubles, a home run, four runs scored and two RBI.
- Ancheta threw out two of the three runners who tried a steal a base against her this weekend.
- The River Otters earned the season-sweep of Willamette for a third-straight year. Lewis & Clark has held the Bearcats to one run or fewer in six of the 12 contests.
- O'Leary moved into second place in program history for career innings pitched (458.1) and into a tie for second for career starts by a pitcher (68).
- Scroggins became the eighth player in program history to play in 150 career games in the series finale.
- Pope reached 300 career innings pitched over the weekend (305.0) and became the second pitcher in program history to reach 30 career wins on Sunday.
- The River Otters sit in a tie for second in the NWC heading into the final series of the season. Lewis & Clark (18-6) is tied with #3 Linfield (18-6) for second in the NWC Standings and both teams are two games behind Pacific Lutheran (20-4).

Lewis & Clark will welcome Pacific University to the Huston Sports Complex for a four-game series to close out the regular season. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for Noon and 2 p.m.
