PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College baseball fell to George Fox University 7-4 on Sunday afternoon at
Jerry Gatto Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore
Jacob Shannon-Wilkerson went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a run scored. First-year
Garrett Lewis finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Senior
Joaquin Sandoval singled and walked, and junior
Evyn Lewis drove in a run in the seventh inning.
First-year
Calvin Martinez took the loss on the mound, allowing three runs on three hits with three walks in 1 1/3 innings. Sophomore
Dillon Foster relieved Martinez and pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Junior
Bret Potter closed with two scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out three.
George Fox scored twice in the first inning. Garrett Strube singled, and walks to Evan Balingit and Brennan Bates loaded the bases. Adam Fulton reached on a fielder's choice to score Strube, and a throwing error allowed Bates to advance to second. Declan Corrigan was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in Balingit for a 2-0 lead.
The Bruins added a run in the second, but Lewis & Clark answered in the bottom half. G. Lewis singled through the left side, and Shannon-Wilkerson hit a home run to left field to cut the deficit to 3-2.
George Fox extended its lead to 5-2 with runs in the third and fifth innings. Dylon Poulin hit a two-run home run to left-center field in the seventh to make it 7-2.
Lewis & Clark scored twice in the bottom of the seventh. Sandoval singled and was replaced by pinch runner
Yuma Noda, who advanced to second on a wild pitch. G. Lewis singled to right to put runners on first and third. Senior
Brandon Gonzaga hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Noda, and E. Lewis reached on a fielder's choice to bring home G. Lewis and make it 7-4.
Lewis & Clark did not score in the final two innings. George Fox reliever Andrew Miller allowed one hit and two walks over three scoreless innings to close the game.
George Fox's Aidan Rady (4-3) earned the win, allowing four runs on five hits with three strikeouts in six innings.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Shannon-Wilkerson's home run was his fourth of the season. He has 19 RBI this year and recorded his sixth multi-RBI game.
- G. Lewis reached base safely in three of his four plate appearances and scored twice.
- Potter has safely reached base in 18 straight games, the longest current streak and second longest of the season.
