LOS ANGELES, Calif.– Lewis & Clark College women's tennis defeated Whittier College 6-1 on Saturday afternoon, continuing its undefeated start to the season with a road victory in Southern California.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis & Clark claimed the doubles point with victories in all three matches. First-year
Alex Mignogna and sophomore
Madi Vianzon completed the sweep with a 6-0 win over Leilany Aguilar and Valza Jusufi at No. 3 doubles. Juniors
Maya Curry and
Emma Loucks won 6-2 over Rhea Gagnepain and Lindsay Lemus at No. 2 doubles. Senior
Susanna Anand and junior
Charlotte Makoni defeated Jordan Netzsch and Paige Valenzuela 7-5 at No. 1 doubles.
The River Otters extended their lead to 2-0 when Curry defeated Netzsch at No. 3 singles after winning the first set 6-0 before Netzsch retired.
Loucks won at No. 5 singles, defeating Jusufi 6-0, 6-0. Mignogna followed with a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles, defeating Lemus 6-0, 6-2 to make it 4-0 and clinch the match.
First-year
Elle Garcia made her season debut with a victory at No. 6 singles, defeating Aguilar 6-0, 6-1 to give the River Otters a 5-0 lead.
Whittier earned its lone point when Valenzuela defeated sophomore
Anna English at No. 2 singles 6-3, 7-5.
Makoni closed the match with a win at No. 1 singles, defeating Gagnepain 6-3, 7-5 to secure the 6-1 final.
BY THE NUMBERS
