HOW IT HAPPENED

The River Otters received straight-set singles victories from senior Susanna Anand and junior Charlotte Makoni at the top of the lineup, but the Panthers controlled play from No. 3 through No. 6 to secure the non-conference win.

Chapman claimed the doubles point with victories on all three courts. Lucy Wallin and Chloe McBride defeated Anand and Makoni 6-2 at No. 1. Malina Dahms and Makaylee Dahms topped juniors Maya Curry and Emma Loucks 6-1 at No. 2, and Jaya Manhas and Sofiya Khegay completed the sweep with a 6-3 win over first-year Alex Mignogna and sophomore Madi Vianzon at No. 3 to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

Anand countered with the most decisive singles result of the afternoon at No. 1. She dropped just one game across two sets, defeating McBride 6-0, 6-1 to give the River Otters their first point. Makoni followed at No. 2, beating Wallin 6-2, 6-3. The pair of wins at the top of the lineup gave Lewis & Clark a 2-1 lead before Chapman responded on the remaining four courts.

The Panthers won all four lower-lineup singles matches to secure the team victory. Makaylee Dahms defeated sophomore Anna English 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, and Khegay beat Curry by the same score at No. 4. Malina Dahms posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mignogna at No. 5. Manhas closed the match at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Loucks, the tightest of the four Chapman singles wins.
