HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pioneers honored their seven seniors prior to their final home meet and regular-season finale. Seniors
Claire Baco,
Josephine Mann and
Ella Stephan all swam in a meet for the final time at the Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion.
Barton and Cummings combined for three of the Pioneers four wins, with Lewis & Clark opening the day with a win in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Cummings, sophomore

Aniqah Gaffoor and Barton defeated a pair of Lutes teams with a winning time of 1:55.51.
Barton earned her first win of the day in the 200 Free. She bested five other swimmers, as she touched the wall in 2:05.62. First year
Claire Hurty placed third in the event with a time of 2:12.51. Baco took fifth (2:31.21) and Mann finished sixth (2:46.79).
Barton added a win over five total swimmers in the 100 Free. The junior notched a time of 56.19. Gaffoor came in third overall with a time of 1:00.09. Stephan was just behind in fourth (1:00.93) and Baco placed fifth (1:09.10).
Cummings placed first in the 100 Backstroke. It was a two-woman race for first between Cummings and junior teammate
Jane Tewinkel, with Cummings touching the wall first in 1:02.81. Tewinkel took second place in 1:05.11. Mann finished fifth overall (1:24.96) and sophomore
Ainsley Rios closed in 1:28.78 to finish sixth.
Lewis & Clark earned second-place finishes in the five other races they competed in.
Stephan led five Lewis & Clark swimmers in the 50 Free. The senior placed second overall in 26.77. Gaffoor took third overall in 26.92. Tewinkel (27.65), junior
Ella Gimon (27.96) and Rios (30.45) finished in sixth, seventh and eighth.
Cummings tacked on a second-place showing in the 100 Fly. She finished second out of five swimmers with a final time of 1:06.05. Junior
AJ Schroeder finished in fourth in 1:06.64.
Linkow led Lewis & Clark in the final two individual events. In the 100 Breaststroke, she finished second out of six swimmers with a time of 1:14.21. Schroeder closed in 1:17.78 to finish third and Gimon notched a sixth-place result with a time of 1:24.22.
Linkow also paced the Pioneers in the 500 Free. She came in second in the event with a final time of 5:51.47. Hurty posted a third-place finish in 6:05.19.
The Pioneers closed the meet by having all three of the seniors compete in the 200 Free Relay. The first Lewis & Clark relay team of Schroeder, Hurty, Tewinkel and Stephan finished second in 1:49.44. The second Lewis & Clark quartet of Baco, Gimon, Mann and Rios finished fourth overall in 2:02.56.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Both Pioneers who swam the 100 Fly swam season-best times. Cummings was swimming the event for the first time collegiately (1:06.05) and her time is the second fastest by a Lewis & Clark swimmer this year. Schroeder improved their season-best time by 0.51 seconds.
- Baco improved her season-best time in the 100 Free by 0.79 seconds (1:09.10).
- Gimon won the second heat of the 50 Free in a season-best time of 27.96. She improved her season-best time by 0.41 seconds.
WHAT'S NEXT
Lewis & Clark will travel to the 2025 Northwest Conference Championship Meet in Federal Way, Washington from February 13-16. The Pioneers finished eighth at last year's NWC Championship Meet and will be looking to improve their place in the standings.
