GREENWOOD, Ind.—Eight Lewis & Clark College swimmers were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA DIII Men's and Women's Swimming Academic All-District Team, the CSC announced on Tuesday morning.

The River Otters eight honorees mark a new program record, after having six swimmers recognized in each of the past two seasons. The men's team placed four honorees on the Academic All-District Team for the first time. Â

Elise Barton,
Zach Martin and
AJ Schroeder were all recognized for a program-record, third-straight season. Senior
Ezra Billings and junior
Ainsley Rios earned the award for a second-straight season.Â

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a sophomore in both academic and athletic standing, have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher and must compete in at least 75 percent of the team's competitions.Â

Aidan Beatty is a History major, with a minor in English, hailing from Great Falls, Montana. Despite going abroad second semester, Beatty continued to train with the team and competed in two of the team's four meets in second semester to reach the 75% threshold. He enjoyed a career-best season that saw him post PR times in all six of his events. The junior notched career-best marks at the La Verne Invitational in the 50 Free (24.38), 100 Free (54.34), 200 Free (2:00.06), 50 Back (31.17) and 100 Back (1:05.42). Beatty competed in seven of the team's nine meets.Â

Billings is a Computer Science and Mathematics major from Fairbanks, Alaska. The senior put together another phenomenal showing at the Northwest Conference Championship Meet. He repeated as the winner in the 100 Free when he touched the wall in 44.89. Billings also placed second in the 50 Free (20.37) and 100 Fly (49.35) to finish the meet with 54 points as an individual. He also helped the 400 and 800 Free Relay Teams finish second overall. In two seasons, Billings won five NWC Titles, posted seven First Team All-Conference honors and earned 10 total All-Conference awards. He wraps up his River Otters career as the program-record holder in the 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Fly and as a member of four relay teams that sit first overall.Â

Sam LoCurto is an Economics major hailing from San Antonio, Texas. The sophomore took a major step forward in his second season with the program. LoCurto posted his first career individual All-Conference honors and was a major part of four relay teams at the NWC Championship Meet. He placed seventh in the 100 Fly Finals with a time of 51.06 to earn NWC Second Team honors. LoCurto was also a member of the 400 and 800 Free Relay Teams that finished second overall and the 200 Medley Relay Team that set the program record in Boise. In two seasons, LoCurto has posted top-10 marks in the 50 Free (seventh), 100 Fly (fourth) and helped set the program record in four relays.Â

Martin is a Music major, with a minor in Computer Science, from Claremont, California. He put together a fourth-straight season earning multiple individual All-Conference honors. The senior finished fourth overall in the 200 Free (1:44.71) and seventh in the 100 Free (46.87) to register a pair of NWC Second Team accolades. Martin was also a member of the 400 and 800 Free Relay teams that both placed second at NWCs. For his career, he posted 13 All-Conference awards – including four in each of his final two seasons. Martin wraps up his career second all-time in the 200 Free, fourth in the 100 Free, sixth in the 50 Free, seventh in the 100 Breaststroke and owns the program record in all five relays.Â

Barton is a Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Hispanic Studies double major hailing from Denver, Colorado. She put together a tremendous final season in Orange & Black. Barton earned her first career Northwest Conference First Team All-Conference honors in the 100 Free. She finished third overall in the event with a time of 54.53 to post the best finish of her career at an NWC Championship event. She also placed fourth in the 200 Free (1:58.37) to garner NWC Second Team accolades. She wraps up her career third in program history in the 50 Free, seventh in the 200 Free, eighth in the 100 Free and a member of five relay teams that rank in the top-10. Barton earned five All-Conference honors over her final two season.Â

Claire Hurty is a Biology major from Newport, Oregon. The sophomore competed in all nine Lewis & Clark meets this season and proved to be one of the team's top distance swimmers. She finished 14
th in the 1,650 Free at the NWC Championship Meet (20:09.03) and placed 23
rd in the 500 Free (5:46.83) and 24
th in the 200 Free (2:10.08). She opened the season by placing second in the 500 and 1,000 Free against Whitman College (10/31) and matched those marks with second-place finishes against Linfield (1/23) in the 1,000 Free and 200 Backstroke.Â

Rios is a Psychology major hailing from Hillsboro, Oregon. She earned her second-straight Academic All-District honors after competing in eight meets during her junior season. Rios posted PR times in all three of her events at the NWC Championship Meet. She finished 39
th in the 200 Free (2:26.65), 42
nd in the 100 Free (1:03.47) and 46
th in the 50 Free (28.11). Rios enjoyed her best performance in a dual meet on November 8 at Pacific Lutheran University. She finished fifth overall in the 50 Free and 50 Breaststroke.Â

Schroeder is a Biochemistry & Molecular Biology major, minoring in Data Science and Chemistry, from Mountain View, California. The senior competed in seven meets during their final season to earn a third-straight Academic All-District award. Schroeder registered season-best times in all three of her individual events at the NWC Championship Meet and advanced to the B Final in two events. They placed 14
th in the 200 Breaststroke (2:38.26), 15
th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:11.35) and 32
nd in the 50 Free (26.32). Schroeder wraps up her career eighth all-time in the 100 Breaststroke (1:09.86) and was a member of three relay teams that rank in the top-10 all-time.Â
