Thien Hoang Named to D3football.com All-Region Team

Hoang was selected to the Region 6 Second Team Offense

PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College freshman football kicker Thien Hoang was named to the D3football.com West All-Region Team, the website announced on Wednesday morning.

Hoang was selected to the Region 6 Second Team Offense All-Region Team after setting the program record for points by a kicker in a single-season. It marks the second-straight season that Lewis & Clark has had a special teams player named to the D3football.com All-Region Team. Last fall, Elijah Washington earned Second Team All-Region honors for his accolades as a long snapper.

Hoang finished the season 9-10 on field goals and 41-42 on point after attempts (PATs) for 68 total points. He is the second kicker in program history to post 60 or more points in a single-season and his 68 points broke Alex Koga's ('23) single-season record of 60 points in a single-season that was set in 2021.

The Portland native also set the single-season program record for made PATs (41) and tied the single-game record with 9 made PATs against the University of Puget Sound on November 4. His nine made field goals in a season are tied for the third-most in a single-season in program history and his 90% conversion rate is a new program-best. Hoang finished the season by hitting each of his final eight field goal attempts.

The Northwest Conference Honorable Mention Team All-Conference honoree led all NWC kickers in made field goals and field goal percentage and ranked second in the conference with his 68 points by a kicker. Hoang finished the season tied for second in NCAA DIII in field goal percentage and tied for 31st in field goals made per game (0.90).

The freshman kicker went 2-3 on field goals of 40 yards or longer, including hitting a career-long 44 yard-field goal at Montana Western. He had one of his best games of the season on September 30 at George Fox University. Hoang went 3-3 on field goals: hitting a 41-yard field goal right before halftime, a 39-yard field goal to tie the game at the end of regulation and a go-ahead 26-yard field goal in the first overtime. He recorded a season-high 12 points on November 4, when he went 1-1 on field goals and 9-9 on PATs against Puget Sound.
