Matt Sixkiller joined the River Otters coaching staff in the summer of 2026.
Sixkiller arrives from La Center High School in La Center, Washington, where he served as the head junior varsity boys' coach and a varsity assistant beginning in 2025. He guided the junior varsity program to an average margin of victory of more than 20 points, developed player plans aligned with the varsity system and terminology, and oversaw film breakdown and opponent scouting.
Before joining La Center, Sixkiller led the girls’ varsity program at Winlock High School in Winlock, Washington, during the 2024-25 season. As head coach, he designed practice plans focused on skill development, conditioning and tactical execution while establishing a program culture centered on accountability, academic responsibility and communication.
Sixkiller also brings collegiate coaching experience from Clark College in Vancouver, Washington, where he served as an assistant men's basketball coach during the 2021-22 season. In that role, he recruited and evaluated prospective student-athletes, monitored academic eligibility, led individual workouts and position-specific skill development, and prepared scouting reports and game plans.
In addition to his coaching experience, Sixkiller works as a program coach and private trainer with Legends APT and Upper Left Legion.
Sixkiller earned a bachelor's degree in liberal studies and an associate degree in general studies from the University of Maine at Presque Isle, graduating cum laude in both programs. He holds a USA Basketball Gold License, is an NFHS-certified coach and maintains CPR, AED and first-aid certifications.
