Brad Breier was named the head men’s and women’s golf coach at Lewis & Clark College in June of 2023. The 2025-26 season was Breier's third season in charge of the program.
Lewis & Clark enjoyed a strong 2025-26 season with women's golf making a leap into the top-four in the conference. Women's golf finished third at the Northwest Conference Spring Classic and NWC Championship to finish third in the NWC Standings. The third-place finish marked their highest finish in the NWC Standings since the 2016-17 season. Women's golf won their first two tournaments since 2018, as they defeated Pacific in the Pines Cup and then won the five-team George Fox Invitational. Sophomore Ahika Jani won four tournaments during the season and claimed first place at the NWC Spring Classic to become the first L&C golfer to win an NWC event in over 20 years. Jani closed out the season in 74th place in NCAA DIII in the Clippd Rankings and earned NWC First Team All-Conference honors. The men's team finished in sixth place in the NWC Standings for a second-straight season but made progress as the season went along. At the NWC Championship, the men posted their best finish since 1988 when they came in fourth place. Men's Golf defeated Pacific in the Pines Cup for a second-straight season and put together their best performance as a team under Breier to place second out of 15 teams at the West Coast Classic. Junior Luke Blanksinhip earned NWC All-Conference Third Team honors after finishing in a tie for fifth at the NWC Championship.
Both programs took a major step forward during the 2024-25 season. Breier brought in six players for both rosters and despite their youth the Pioneers climbed up the Northwest Conference Standings. The women's team finished fifth in the NWC - their highest result since the 2018-19 campaign. The men's program placed sixth overall, which was their highest finish since 2016-17. Women's first year Ahika Jani earned Northwest Conference Rookie of the Year honors after placing second overall at the Northwest Conference Championship Tournament. Men's first year Charlie Hageman and sophomore transfer Luke Blankinship both finished in the top-five at the NWC Classic Tournament, to become the first men's golfers to finish top-5 at an NWC event since 2017. The men's team also posted a pair of win. They earned a victory in their season opener, when they defeated Pacific in match play at the Pines Cup 12-6. The men's program earned their first confirmed tournament win, when they stormed back to win the George Fox Invitational by three strokes, after posting a team score of 282 (-2) in the second round.
Brier was busy during his first season at the helm of the Pioneers including creating partnerships with several local golf courses for practice time and rebuilding the Pioneers golf room with a new simulator. Lewis & Clark Golf also hosted the program's first event since October 21 when the Pioneers served as the hosts of the 2024 NWC Championships Tournament at Langdon Farms Golf Club. On the course, the Pioneers competed in 10 tournaments during his first season including a pair of trips to California for the Bulldog Fall Invitational and the PCH Invitational. Individually, several players recorded career-best 18 and 36-holes scores and junior Jon Westlake became the first Lewis & Clark golfer to finish in the top-20 at an NWC event when he finished tied for 20th (154, +12) at the NWC Championships event.
Breier comes to Lewis & Clark after a successful stint as an assistant coach at nationally ranked University of Redlands. After helping out with the program as a volunteer for several years, Breier served as the assistant golf coach for both the men’s and women’s program during the 2022-23 academic year. He helped guide the women’s team to a sixth-place finish at the 2023 Division III National Championship and both programs to top-three finishes at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament.
Brier is no stranger to the Pacific Northwest and the NWC after playing baseball at Willamette University. He was a three-year starter for the Bearcats and earned All-Conference honors twice, including First Team All-Conference accolades as a junior.
Since graduating from Willamette in 2015, Breier has worked as a teacher in California. He spent three years as a middle school history teacher, before turning his focus to working as an elementary school special education teacher for the past four years. He graduated from Chapman University in 2017 with his Masters in Education.
