Jimmy Chau was named head coach in the summer of 2018 after joining the coaching staff as an assistant in 2005. The 2026-27 season marks his 22nd year on the coaching staff and his ninth as head coach.

Lewis & Clark has qualified for 12 consecutive Northwest Conference Tournaments and posted its best season under Chau in 2024-25, finishing 13-6 overall and 10-4 in NWC play to earn the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament. Chau was named NWC Coach of the Year following the season.

In 2025-26, Chau coached the program’s first Northwest Conference Rookie of the Year, Kaden Sigurdsson. The River Otters finished 9-5 in conference play and secured the No. 3 seed for the second straight season. Lewis & Clark played its closest NWC Tournament match during the program’s 12-year postseason streak, falling 5-4 to No. 2 seed Whitworth.

A Portland native, Chau competed for the Lewis & Clark men’s tennis program for three seasons, with his fourth year spent overseas. He served as team captain and earned MVP honors during his senior season in 2001. Chau was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete All-American and graduated with Delta Mu Delta honors in business and economics.
