Joonho Moon posted the best round of his collegiate career to finish tied for second overall, to lead Lewis & Clark College golf at the Pacific Lutheran University Invitational.

MEN'S RECAP
Moon nearly won his first collegiate title and the River Otters finished third out of six Northwest Conference teams in their final tune-up before the NWC Fall Classic.
Moon opened the tournament on Monday with the best round of his collegiate career. The junior posted the best round of the tournament with a 67 (-5). He started the day with three-straight birdies and finished his round with six birdies, one bogey and 11 pars. Moon maintained his lead until the final hole of the tournament. He finished Tuesday with a 74 (+2) to end the tournament in a tie for second overall. Moon matched the lowest tournament score of his career with a 141 (-3).
Senior
Luke Blankinship joined Moon with a top-10 finish. Blankinship finished in the top-five of the field on Monday when he carded a 70 (-2). The senior matched Moon with six birdies on the day and added two bogeys and one double bogey. On Tuesday, Blankinship tacked on three more birdies during a round of 75 (+3). He closed out the week in a tie for 10
th overall with a score of 145 (+1).
Junior
Mason Hill finished third on the team on both days to place 15
th overall. Hill notched a round of 75 (+3) on Monday. He carded a 73 (+1) on Tuesday with six birdies, five bogeys and one double bogey. The junior closed out the tournament with a score of 148 (+4).
Sophomore
Trae Fredrickson finished fourth in the scoring lineup on Tuesday and fourth overall. He opened the week with an 80 (+8). On Day Two, Fredrickson finished with a score of 75 (+3) to placed tied for third on the team. Fredrickson registered two birdies in both of his rounds. He closed out the tournament in a tie for 29
th overall with a score of 155 (+11).
Senior
Kenji Pickeral was the fifth member of the scoring lineup. The senior notched a round of 80 (+8) on Monday with two birdies, 13 birdies and three holes of double bogey or worse. He tacked on three birdies on Tuesday in a round of 77 (+5). Pickeral finished tied for 35
th overall with a score of 147 (+13).
Sophomores
Brady Gless and
Nate Loew represented Lewis & Clark as independents at the tournament.
Gless finished in a tie for 43
rd overall. He opened the tournament with a score of 81 (+9). On Tuesday, he shaved off two strokes to post a 79 (+7). The sophomore registered three of his five birdies on Tuesday. He finished the tournament with a score of 160 (+16).
Loew registered one of the best scores on the team on Monday with a 79 (+7). The sophomore posted a string of 11 holes where he went even par with one birdie, one bogey and nine pars. Loew notched a round of 85 (+13) on Tuesday. He closed out the tournament 49
th overall with a score of 164 (+20).
WOMEN'S RECAP
Richardson and junior
Lauren Raitanen represented women's golf at the two-day tournament.
Richardson posted the best round of her collegiate career on Monday. The first year carded a 78 (+6) on Monday and beat her career-best round by one stroke thanks to a birdie on the Par 3 6
th hole to close out her round. Richardson notched a round of 90 (+18) on Day Two. She finished the week in a tie for 24
th overall with a score of 168 (+24).
Raitanen ended the week in 57
th place. The junior posted a score of 107 (+35) on both Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, she notched pars on the Par 3 12
th hole and the Par 3 6
th hole. She closed out the tournament with a score of 214 (+70).
BY THE NUMBERS
- Moon's round of 67 (-5) matched former teammate Charlie Hageman for the best round by a Lewis & Clark men's golfer in the past 10 seasons.
- Richardson's round of 78 (+6) on Monday was the best of her career and her second collegiate round in the 70s.
- Moon (2x) and Hageman are the only River Otters men's golfers to finish with a tournament score of 141 (-3) or better in the last 10 seasons.
- Whitman College won the men's title with a two-day score of -2. Host Pacific Lutheran University (+4) and Redlands University (+12) finished second and third overall.
- Moon has posted two of the three best rounds of his career in the first two tournaments of the season. He posted a 68 (-4) in round two of the CA State Intercollegiate Tournament.
- Redlands players took home the men's and women's individual titles. Hageman (-5) and Savanah Christensen (+2) finished first over 36 holes.
WHAT'S NEXT
Lewis & Clark will play the first of three Northwest Conference Tournament on Sunday and Monday. Pacific University will host the NWC Fall Classic at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.
