HILLSBORO, Ore.—After helping lead Lewis & Clark College men's soccer to the program's first win since returning to varsity status, senior goalie Micaiah Garan was named the Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. 
 
Garan posted five saves in the shutout win over Whitworth University on Saturday to claim his first collegiate win and his third collegiate shutout. The win marked the program's first win in 73 tries since returning to varsity status (2022) and the program's first win since October 31, 1990. 
 
This marks the second career NWC Defensive Player of the Week award for Garan, after being recognized on October 20, 2025. 
 
For the week, Garan made 14 saves on 16 shots for a 1.00 goals against average and 87.5 save percentage across 180 minutes. He followed up Saturday's shutout with a season-high nine saves in a 2-0 loss to defending NWC Champions Whitman College. Garan stonewalled Whitman's Kevin Serrano in the 76^th minute on a penalty kick to keep the score 1-0. 
 
Garan leads the Northwest Conference this season with 37 saves and 5.29 saves per game and ranks fourth with a 74.0 save percentage. He currently ranks fourth among active NCAA DIII goalies with his 247 career saves and 25^th with 5.04 saves per game. His shutout on Saturday marked his third career shutout and the third shutout for the program since men's soccer returned to varsity status. 
 
Lewis & Clark will return to action on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to take on Linfield University at Noon in their lone contest of the week.
