PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College men's soccer led 2-0 at halftime, but Pacific University scored three unanswered goals in the second half to earn a 3-2 win Friday in the River Otters' Northwest Conference and home opener at Griswold Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior
Dylan Weinstein and junior
Sam Gunderson scored first-half goals to give the River Otters a 2-0 halftime lead. Weinstein set the program record for career points with 12 and tied the program record for career goals with his fifth.
Weinstein put Lewis & Clark ahead in the second minute with his first goal of the season. He collected a turnover and scored on a right-footed shot from 35 yards out that found the lower right corner of the net.
Gunderson doubled the lead in the 34th minute with his first goal of the season. Junior
Talen Haywood sent the ball across the field from midfield and found Gunderson just inside the box on the near side. Gunderson used one touch to beat the Pacific goalkeeper at the near post.
The River Otters took a 2-0 lead into halftime despite recording only two shots in the opening 45 minutes.
Pacific generated the majority of the first-half chances but could not convert. Nico Lomanto and Caden Matsumoto recorded three shots apiece, but none of the Boxers' 11 first-half attempts were on target. Senior
Micaiah Garan and the Lewis & Clark defense protected the two-goal advantage through the opening half.
The Boxers cut the deficit in the 49th minute. Garan saved a shot from Carter Zeiset before Lomanto scored on the rebound.
Pacific tied the game in the 54th minute when Trenton Zimmermann headed in a corner kick from Lomanto.
Lomanto gave the Boxers their first lead in the 72nd minute, converting a penalty kick for the 3-2 advantage.
Lewis & Clark created several chances after halftime. Junior
Alex Woods forced a save from Kobi Miyamoto in the 59th minute, while junior
Kaden Nakamura and Weinstein had shots blocked over the next five minutes.
The River Otters continued to search for an equalizer over the final 20 minutes. Miyamoto saved a shot from first-year
Avi Rajbhandari in the 70th minute and another from Weinstein in the 74th. He later stopped senior
Emmett Olson in the 83rd minute and junior
Eli Kraft in the 86th. Junior
Sam London had a shot blocked in the 87th minute.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Weinstein led Lewis & Clark with three shots, including two on goal.
- The River Otters took nine shots in the second half after two in the first.
- With 90 minutes in the game, Weinstein became the first player in program history to surpass 5,000 career minutes played.
