PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College Director of Physical Education and Athletics Mark Pietrok announced the hiring of Kris Fay as the men's and women's golf head coach this morning.Â
Â
Fay has been heavily involved in the Pacific Northwest golf scene over the past 20 years. The PGA professional has held positions as an assistant coach at Multnomah University and Warner Pacific University and Fort Vancouver High School and served in a variety of other roles.Â
Â
"I am extremely excited to welcome Kris Fay back to Palatine Hill," Pietrok said. "Kris is deeply committed to developing student-athletes and providing them with every opportunity to succeed both in the classroom and on the golf course. His extensive experience across the Pacific Northwest golf community, combined with his collegiate coaching background and familiarity with Lewis & Clark, will allow him to hit the ground running. I look forward to seeing how Kris builds upon the strong foundation of our golf programs and helps take them to the next level, as he returns to a program that he was once a part of as a Lewis & Clark student-athlete."
Â
Fay competed on the Lewis & Clark track & field and golf teams and started his coaching career (track & field) during his time at Lewis & Clark. The 1998 graduate returned to collegiate coaching for the 2023-24 season - when he joined the Multnomah coaching staff. Fay spent two seasons working for the Lions, before joining the brand-new Warner Pacific program for the 2025-26 season. Fay was heavily involved in skill development, practice planning and recruiting at Warner Pacific and helped lead the program to a first-place finish at the Tournament of Knights.Â
Â
"I've always looked back at my four years at Lewis & Clark as some of the most influential of my life," Fay noted. "In addition to receiving a top-notch education, I met my wife at L&C, discovered how much I enjoyed competitive golf and left with a broader sense of a diverse and ever-changing global perspective. I've been impressed by how much the athletic department has grown and improved and I'm excited to return to the L&C community and contribute to further expanding the program.
Â
As a PGA professional, I can strengthen program fundamentals and elevate team culture. The goal is to reach the top of the conference and gain attention in the national rankings. Golf is an individual sport, but I'm focused on bringing out the best in players to create the strongest team possible. L&C is the perfect place to do that."
Â
Outside of coaching, Fay launched the Under Armor Junior Tour in 2024 for the Pacific Northwest region. He oversees all tournament logistics and operations and also works with sponsors and sales initiatives. Fay also holds the role of Tour Director of the Puget Sound Golf Association. Since 2023, he has planned and managed a private club event schedule for over 200 amateur golfers annually and he is tasked with the marketing, contracts and logistics for the tour. Finally, Fay is the owner of the Northwest Golf Adventures. The organization runs and promotes multiple amateur tours and also produces a quarterly digital magazine.
