PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College golf head coach Brad Breier announced his departure on Tuesday afternoon. Breier, who led the men's and women's golf program for the past three seasons, is taking a position as an assistant women's golf coach at NCAA DI Colorado State University. 
 
"Over the past three seasons, Brad has played a tremendous role in elevating our golf program," Director of Physical Education & Athletics Mark Pietrok said. "His vision, leadership, and commitment have helped transform every aspect of the program—from recruiting and player development, to facilities and the overall student-athlete experience. Because of his efforts, both our men's and women's golf programs have taken significant steps forward and established themselves among the top teams in our conference.
 
I want to sincerely thank Brad for his dedication to our student-athletes and for the positive impact he has made on our department. He has represented our university with professionalism and integrity, and we are grateful for everything he has invested in our program. While we are certainly disappointed to see him leave, we are excited for him as he begins this next chapter in his career and wish him and his family nothing but continued success." 
 
Breier was named head coach in the summer of 2023. Over the course of his three seasons, both teams showed massive improvements. The women's team did not have enough players to post a team score in 2023-24, but moved up to fifth in his second season and posted their best-finish in the NWC Standings since 2026-17 this Spring (third place). The men's team finished ninth in year one, but moved up to sixth in each of the past two years and posted their best results at an NWC Championship Tournament since 1988 in April (fourth place). At the end of the 2025-26 season, the men's team ranked 49^th in NCAA DIII and the women's team sat 50^th overall in the Scoreboard NCAA DIII rankings. 
 
"Our commitment to our student-athletes and the continued success of our golf program remains unwavering," Pietrok noted. "The progress made over the past three years has created a strong foundation, and we are confident the opportunity to lead our golf program into its next chapter will attract an outstanding pool of candidates. We are looking for a leader who will continue to build on our recent success, develop our student-athletes both on-and-off the course, and compete for conference championships. The search for our next head golf coach is already underway, and we look forward to welcoming the right person to lead our program forward."
 
Breier recruited 17 student-athletes to Lewis & Clark in his first two recruiting classes. Ten different players (five men and five women) posted a top-10 finish during the 2025-26 season.  Women's golf sophomore Ahika Jani was named the Northwest Conference Rookie of the Year in 2024-25 and carved out a spot on the NWC First Team in each of her first two seasons. Men's golf junior Luke Blankinship earned NWC Third Team All-Conference accolades this Spring - after placing tied for fifth at the NWC Championship Tournament.  
 
"I would like to take the time to say that I have loved my time here at Lewis & Clark," Breier said. "I am grateful to our players, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and the many supporters who helped build our program over the past few years. Together, we elevated both teams to new heights, but more importantly, we built a culture centered on relationships, accountability, and believing in one another.
 
While I am excited for the opportunity ahead at Colorado State, Lewis & Clark will always hold a special place in my heart. I look forward to watching the program continue to grow and succeed in the years to come. Thank you for everything. Go Otters!"
