PORTLAND, Ore. -- Lewis & Clark College women's tennis defeated Pacific University 7-0 in a Northwest Conference match Monday at the L&C Tennis Dome. The win clinched the No. 3 seed in the NWC Tournament for the River Otters, who finished conference play 9-5.

Lewis & Clark secured the doubles point with two wins. First-year

Madi Vianzon earned a win by default at No. 3 after Pacific competed with five players. Juniors
Maya Curry and
Charlotte Makoni defeated Brooke Curtis and Mia Yamaguchi 6-0 at No. 2. Anand and Loucks clinched the point at No. 1 with a 7-6 (7-2) win over Chloe Takahashi and Tiara Yeung.
Vianzon added a default win at No. 6 singles to give Lewis & Clark a 2-0 lead. Anand defeated Takahashi 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 to extend the advantage to 3-0. Makoni followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Yeung at No. 2 to clinch the match. Curry defeated Yamaguchi 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3 to make it 5-0.
The final two matches went to three sets. Sophomore
Anna English dropped the first set 2-6 to Curtis at No. 4 before winning the second 7-6 (7-4) and taking the match in a super tiebreaker, 1-0 (10-7). First-year Mignogna won the opening set 6-0 at No. 5 against Morgan Wagoner, lost the second 2-6, and closed with a 1-0 (10-3) super tiebreaker to complete the sweep.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Anand and Loucks improved to 5-2 as a doubles pair. Anand earned her 12th doubles win, and Loucks picked up her 10th.
- Mignogna won her third straight match and improved to 2-1 in three-set matches.
- Curry and Makoni did not drop a point in their first match as a doubles pair.
- Lewis & Clark's 11 wins are the most for the program since a 10-5 record in 2018.
