Women’s Tennis Closes Season in NWC Tournament Semifinals

Senior Susanna Anand and junior Emma Loucks concluded their careers against Whitworth.

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Lewis & Clark College women's tennis saw its season end Saturday afternoon in the Northwest Conference Tournament semifinals, falling 4-0 to second-seeded Whitworth University at the Whitman Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Whitworth secured the doubles point with wins at No. 3 and No. 1. At No. 3, Olivia Corbett and Audrey Judson defeated first-year Alex Mignogna and sophomore Madi Vianzon 6-4. Faith Kert and Clara Todd clinched the point at the top spot with a 6-3 win over senior Susanna Anand and junior Emma Loucks. The No. 2 match between juniors Maya Curry and Charlotte Makoni and Paige Oliver and J. Turner-Esposito went unfinished with the River Otters leading 5-4.
 
Whitworth added three singles wins in straight sets to finish the match. Turner-Esposito defeated Curry 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3 to extend the lead to 2-0. Kert followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Makoni at No. 2 to make it 3-0. Oliver closed out the match at No. 1 with a 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) victory over Anand.
 
Three singles matches went unfinished when the team result was decided. Sophomore Anna English split sets with Judson at No. 4, winning the first 6-4 and dropping the second 6-4, and led 1-0 in the third set. Mignogna won the first set 6-3 at No. 5 against Corbett, lost the second 6-1, and trailed 2-1 in the third. Vianzon took the opening set 7-5 at No. 6 before Kellogg won the second 6-3, with Kellogg leading 1-0 in the final set.
 
BY THE NUMBERS 
  • Anand finished her career with 89 total wins over four seasons and posted a 17-4 singles record this year.
  • Loucks, who will graduate a year early, ends her career with 32 total wins.
  • Mignogna and Vianzon each recorded 12 singles wins this season, tied for the second most on the team.
WHO'S NEXT
 
Lewis & Clark concluded the 2026 season with an 11-8 overall record and is set to return seven players for the 2026-27 season.
