McMINNVILLE, Ore.—Lewis & Clark defeated #3 Linfield University 5-3 in 13 innings, in a marathon game number one, to end the Wildcats 20-game winning streak and 20-game home winning streak on Saturday afternoon.Ā

THE BASICSĀ
Ā
Lewis & Clark 5, Linfield 3 (13 Innings)Ā
Linfield 13, Lewis & Clark 3 (5 Innings)
(Lewis & Clark 19-11, Northwest Conference 14-4)
(Linfield 27-3, NWC 15-3)Ā

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ā
Senior Maggie O'Leary allowed one earned run over the final 11 innings in game one, to help Lewis & Clark win the second-longest NCAA DIII softball game this season. She took over in the third inning of game one and limited the top hitting team in the conference to eight hits, two walks and two runs (one earned) over a career-high 11 innings of work.Ā
Ā
After Linfield clawed back from one-run deficits in the sixth and 11thĀ innings, seniors Tallulah Sickels and Lacey Marglin drove in runs in the top of the 13thĀ to help lead the River Otters to victory.Ā
Ā
First year Kodie Ancheta led the offense on Saturday with five hits in 10 at-bats. She also tacked on two runs, a double and an RBI.Ā

GAME ONE RECAPĀ
Ā
O'Leary and Linfield first year Destiny Cornwell went pitch-for-pitch over the final 11 innings, in a three-hour and 48-minute marathon.
Ā
Ancheta recorded four of the team's nine hits and finished 4-7 with a run scored. Senior Gina Ozuna went 1-3 with two runs scored and a walk. Junior Makena Dahir added two walks, a run scored and an RBI.Ā
Ā
Senior Charlize Pope earned the start and allowed three hits, two walks and one run over the opening two innings. O'Leary would pitch the final 11 and struck out five batters. She finished the game throwing 175 pitches.
Ā
Cornwell suffered her second collegiate loss. The first year went the full 13 innings and allowed nine hits, three walks and five runs (four earned). She would end the game with 207 pitches.Ā
Ā
Lewis & Clark took their first of four leads in the game in the second. Ozuna was hit by a pitch and raced all the way home on an error on a Dahir ground ball to shortstop that rolled all the way to the wall.Ā
Ā
The hosts tied the game in the bottom of the second on a Kaia Young RBI single. With the bases loaded and one out, Pope recorded a fielder's choice groundout where the runner coming home was retired and a fly out to keep the score 1-1.Ā
Ā
Lewis & Clark grabbed the lead right back in the third. Ancheta led off with a double to right-center, took third on a Madison Scroggins sac bunt and easily scored on Emily Patton's RBI single.Ā
Ā
O'Leary would allow just one baserunner in her first three innings of work, before Linfield came through with a two-out run in the sixth. With the bases empty, McKenna Parmelee reached on an error, stole second and raced home on an Emily Foytack RBI single.Ā
Ā
The score would stay tied at two until the 11thĀ inning. O'Leary would face trouble in the bottom of the seventh but got out of the jam. With two runners in scoring position and out, Ancheta picked off the runner at third and O'Leary struck out the batter to send the game to extras.Ā
Ā
Linfield put the game-winning run at third base in the eighth, only for O'Leary to induce a fly out to right and then she struck out Kiera Sullivan. The Wildcats almost won the game in the 10th. With a runner on first and one out, Ashlyn Aven hit a ball over the wall in center but Marglin reached up and snagged the fly ball to keep the game going.Ā
Ā
Junior Harper Campanella made it 3-2 in the top of the 11th,Ā Ā when she belted her team-leading, eighth home run of the season.Ā
Ā
The hosts countered with a two-out run in the bottom of the inning. Parmelee worked a lead-off walk, took second on a sac bunt and raced home on a Lexiss Antle two-out single.Ā
Ā
After managing four hits in the first five innings of extras, Lewis & Clark came through with two runs in the 13th. Ozuna led off the frame with a double to right field and Dahir followed with a walk. Senior McKenna Zehnder put down a sac bunt to move both runners up 60 feet. Sickels put down a suicide squeeze bunt and Ozuna beat the throw home for a 4-3 lead. Marglin followed with a sacrifice fly to right to give Lewis & Clark their first multi-run lead of the day.Ā
Ā
O'Leary retired the first two batters of the 13th, before giving up a triple. She then induced a groundout to third to cap off her second-career win against Linfield.Ā
Ā
GAME TWO RECAPĀ
Ā
Linfield used a 10-run, second inning to take control and took advantage of Lewis & Clark's pitchers wildness to earn the doubleheader split.Ā
Ā
Ancheta led the offensive attack with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Scroggins (walk) and junior Abby Yamashita each tacked on a single and a run scored and Ozuna and Campanella each registered a single and an RBI to account for the team's five hits.
Ā
First year Kara Kahahawai had the most success of the team's four pitchers. She threw the final three innings and scattered two hits, one walk and one run. Kahahawai recorded two of the team's three strikeouts in the contest.Ā
Ā
Linfield ace Tyler McNeley allowed five hits, two walks and three runs (two earned) to move to 15-1.Ā
Ā
The River Otters jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Ancheta reached on an error and Scroggins followed with an infield single. Patton would move both runners up with a sacrifice bunt and Campanella made it 1-0 with an RBI single to the circle. Ozuna added an RBI on a bunt, where Scroggins beat the throw home for a 2-0 lead.Ā
Ā
Linfield grabbed their first lead of the day with a three-run first inning. Aven belted her NCAA DIII-leading 15thhome run of the season to tie it and Foytack added a two-out RBI single.Ā
Ā
Lewis & Clark tied the game in the top of the second. Yamashita led off with a single, took second on a Marglin sac bunt and raced home on an Ancheta RBI double.Ā
Ā
The hosts took control of the game in the bottom of the inning. They used five walks, four hits, a hit by pitch and an error to grab a 13-3 lead. Aven (two-run double) and Meara Sain (three-run double) provided the two big hits in the frame.Ā
Ā
Kahahawai, who came on to record all three outs in the second, held Linfield scoreless in their final two at-bats.Ā
