UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Lewis & Clark College women's lacrosse lost 19-5 at John Carroll University on Tuesday evening at Don Shula Stadium after the Blue Streaks scored 11 unanswered goals across the first two quarters.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First-year
Ala Cross led the River Otters with two goals and two assists for four points. She finished with four shots on goal and one draw control. Junior
Aviana Gonzales scored twice, both on man-up opportunities, and added two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Sophomore
Mack Searle recorded one goal, four ground balls, three caused turnovers and one draw control.
Senior
Kate Meinhard won a team-high four draw controls and added one ground ball and one caused turnover. Sophomore
Kaedance Stubbs collected a team-best six ground balls and added three draw controls and a team-high five caused turnovers.
Sophomore
Phoebe Labuhn started in goal and played the first half, making four saves. Junior
Zoey Hamel-Hyland played the second half and recorded three saves.
John Carroll opened the scoring at 14:44 of the first quarter. Cross answered at 13:21 to tie the game at 1-1. The Blue Streaks responded with four straight goals to close the period and take a 5-1 lead.
John Carroll added seven goals in the second quarter to extend the margin to 12-1. Gonzales converted a man-up opportunity at 2:32, assisted by Cross, to make it 12-2 at halftime.
The Blue Streaks continued their run in the third quarter, scoring five times to push the lead to 17-2. John Carroll opened the fourth quarter with a free-position goal to make it 18-2.
Lewis & Clark scored three of the final four goals. Searle scored at 9:50, Gonzales added a goal at 8:18 off a Cross assist, and Cross capped the scoring with a man-up goal with 28 seconds remaining.
BY THE NUMBERS
- John Carroll outshot Lewis & Clark 31-13 and held a 26-8 advantage in shots on goal with eight players scoring.
- The River Otters outshot the Blue Streaks 7-2 in the fourth quarter.
- With three saves, Hamel-Hyland moved within two of 100 career saves.
- The River Otters suffered their largest margin of defeat in nearly two years, since a 21-6 loss to Chapman on March 27, 2024.
