PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College women's lacrosse led for most of Friday's contest, but Oberlin College tied the score as time expired in regulation and scored the game-winner 2:44 into overtime to earn an 11-10 victory at Griswold Stadium.

Junior
Aviana Gonzales and first-year
Ala Cross each totaled five points for the River Otters. Gonzales scored three goals, including two on man-up opportunities, and added two assists. Cross finished with two goals and three assists.
Junior
Sage Swegle recorded her fourth hat trick of the season with three goals. Fellow junior
Finley Allen posted one goal and one assist. Sophomore
Mack Searle added one goal, four ground balls and two draw controls.
Senior
Kate Meinhard finished with one assist, a team-high three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Sophomore
Kaedance Stubbs added three ground balls and two draw controls. Fellow sophomore
Ava Mullen caused a game-high five turnovers.
Sophomore
Kaitlin McRae started in goal and made four saves in the first half. First-year
Phoebe Labuhn entered to start the third quarter and recorded six saves. Labuhn tied Searle and junior
Gloria Meehan with a team-high four ground balls.
Lewis & Clark opened the game with three consecutive goals. Gonzales scored on a man-up opportunity at 8:02 of the first quarter off a Cross assist. Swegle added goals at 5:21 and 3:02, with the second assisted by Allen, to give the River Otters a 3-0 lead. Oberlin's Kylie Thompson scored with 26 seconds left in the quarter to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Swegle extended the lead to 4-1 early in the second quarter, but Oberlin answered with a Thompson goal at 11:41 to make it 4-2. Gonzales converted another man-up opportunity at 7:33, assisted by Cross, to push the lead to 5-2. The Yeowomen closed the half with two goals to trim the margin to 5-4 at the break.
Allen scored at 12:10 of the third quarter off a Meinhard assist to make it 6-4, but Oberlin responded with two goals in 27 seconds to tie the game at 6-6. Cross converted a free-position shot at 5:39 to restore a 7-6 lead, before the Yeowomen tied the score at 7-7 at 4:44. After a Lewis & Clark timeout, Oberlin reinserted starting goalkeeper Emily Berger, but Searle scored 25 seconds later off a Gonzales assist to give the River Otters an 8-7 lead entering the fourth quarter.
Cross scored at 13:20 of the fourth quarter off a Gonzales assist to extend the lead to 9-7. Oberlin answered with consecutive free-position goals from Mary Rodman at 11:39 and Olivia Corradi at 9:37 to tie the game at 9-9. Gonzales gave Lewis & Clark a 10-9 lead with 1:54 remaining, but Corradi converted a free-position shot with one second left to force overtime.
Meinhard won the opening draw in overtime. Gonzales tested Berger with a shot at 4:15, but Oberlin regained possession. Rodman scored at 2:16, assisted by Thompson, to secure the 11-10 win.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The River Otters held a 15-13 edge in caused turnovers and out-gathered Oberlin 21-20 in ground balls.
- Oberlin's Thompson recorded her 100th career point on her first goal late in the first quarter.
