PORTLAND, Ore. – Sophomore
Aviana Gonzales surpassed 100 career NCAA points with three goals, but Lewis & Clark College women's lacrosse fell to Occidental College 9-8 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Griswold Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Gonzales led Lewis & Clark with three goals and six shots. First-year
Ala Cross finished with three assists, and sophomore
Mack Searle added one goal and two assists for three points.
Junior
Finley Allen scored two goals and recorded two draw controls and two ground balls. Junior
Sage Swegle also scored twice. Senior
Kate Meinhard finished with four draw controls, three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
First-year
Phoebe Labuhn started in goal and made three saves in 30 minutes. Sophomore
Kaitlin McRae entered in the third quarter, recorded six saves and took the loss.
Occidental's Olivia Okamoto scored six goals, including three in the third quarter.
Occidental opened the scoring when Olivia Okamoto converted a free-position shot at 12:44 of the first quarter. Swegle tied the game at 5:20 before Charlotte Franklin put Occidental ahead 2-1 at 4:40. Swegle scored again at 3:27, assisted by Cross, to tie the score at 2-2. Okamoto gave Occidental a 3-2 lead at 1:34, but Gonzales answered at 0:38, assisted by Searle, to send the teams to the second quarter tied 3-3. The goal marked Gonzales' 100th career NCAA point.
Lewis & Clark took its first lead in the second quarter. Gonzales scored at 13:00 off a Cross assist to make it 4-3. Okamoto tied the score at 6:37, but Allen scored at 2:27, assisted by Searle, to give Lewis & Clark a 5-4 lead at halftime.
Allen extended the lead to 6-4 at 13:10 of the third quarter. Okamoto responded with three straight goals to put Occidental ahead 7-6. She converted a free-position shot at 4:36, scored a man-up goal at 2:43 after a green card on Lewis & Clark's
Ava Mullen and added another at 1:00 off an assist from Tirzah Rivera.
Okamoto scored her sixth goal on another man-up opportunity at 13:09 of the fourth quarter to push Occidental's lead to 8-6. Lewis & Clark responded. Searle scored a man-up goal at 11:27, assisted by Cross, to cut the deficit to one. Gonzales tied the game 8-8 at 4:38 on an assist from Meinhard to force overtime.
Occidental won the opening draw in the extra period and drew a foul. A green card on Lewis & Clark's
Rowan Levandoski gave the Tigers a man-up advantage, and Franklin scored off an assist from Ellie Mahoney at 4:26 to end the game.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Gonzales' three goals gave her 102 career NCAA points.
- This was the first overtime game in program history for Lewis & Clark.
