PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College volleyball head coach Erin Labasan will welcome five new faces to Pamplin Gymnasium when fall camp starts in August. Three first-years and two transfers join 11 returning Pioneers, including seniors Bethany Ballesteros, Kelsie Nakashima, Ella Ruark, Emily Strand and Annika Traxler.   

"We're excited to welcome our 2024 class to Palatine Hill! Our incoming athletes are well-rounded as a unit and versatile as individuals," enthused Labasan. "We loved seeing our incoming first-years connect with each other during club tournaments this past spring and we're looking forward to the wealth of volleyball experience each member of this class brings. This is another group of phenomenal people and teammates, and we can't wait to add their competitive fire to our gym."

Kenzie Edwards — Wilsonville, Ore. — Setter

Was a member of the Pacific University (Ore.) volleyball team her freshman season...attended Tualatin High School...played club volleyball for the North Pacific Juniors...was named Second Team All-League Libero in high school. 

Daphne Ibrao — Aiea, Hawaii — Outside Hitter / Defensive Specialist

Attended Sacred Hearts Academy…played club for Jammers Volleyball Club Hawaii…she was named to the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division III All-Star Honorable Mention Team…earned a spot on the Principal's List…received the Academic Excellence in American Government and Pre-Calculus.

Ainsley Mochrie — Roseville, Calif.— Defensive Specialist

Attended Roseville High School…played club volleyball for Synergy Force Volleyball…she was a four-year varsity player…helped her team claim the 2023-24 Capital Valley Conference Championship…named to the 2023-24 CVC All-Conference Team…she earned a spot on the 2023-24 Optimist All-Star Team…was a three-time Double Gold Academic Merit Award (4.01+ GPA) recipient.
 
Emilie Thoreson – Sacramento, Calif. – Middle Blocker
 
Attended Rio Americano High School…played club for Omni Volleyball Club…was a four-year varsity starter…named captain of her high school volleyball team for three years…she helped lead her high school team to 103 total wins over four years…named Co-MVP…was a Capital Athletic Conference All-League Team member…she was the Valedictorian of her senior class…is a California Scholarship Federation Life Member…was named a Civitas Excellent Senior…earned the Outstanding Social Science Student…was an AP Scholar with Distinction…member of the National Honors Society…has the Seal of Biliteracy in Norwegian…earned the President's Award for Educational Excellence…won the Distinguished Scholar Award.  

Abby Warrick — Coos Bay, Ore. – Outside Hitter / Defensive Specialist

Played two years at Southwestern Oregon Community College… played in 24 matches and started 18 for the Lakers…finished with 69 kills, 36 digs, 26 blocks and nine assists in two seasons…recorded eight kills with three digs at Clark College on Oct. 13, 2023… she had five total blocks vs. Lane Community College on Sept. 30…hit .364 (6-2-11) in her first year against Chemeketa Community College on Sept. 24…named to the Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Sports Team…she was a member of Theta Chi Alpha Honor Society…recognized for her Academic Excellence…was the Valedictorian of her class at SWOCC…attended Marshfield High School…played club volleyball for Pirate Volleyball Club…named her high school volleyball team MVP…was the Valedictorian of her senior class…earned the Spanish 3 Student of the Year award…named the Allied Health Student of the Year…she was on the 4.0 Honor Roll…was the Med Law and Ethics Student of the Year in high school.
