Junior linebacker Mitchell Sarmento led Lewis & Clark's defensive effort with a team-high nine tackles, including three solo stops, in football’s win over George Fox on Saturday to open Northwest Conference play. The versatile defender contributed to two kickoff return tackles, made several key stops in the run game, and hurried the quarterback on a passing play. Sarmento had four tackles on the Bruin’s first series in the second half, which helped the Pioneers stop the opposing offense inside the red zone and forced a turnover on downs.
