TACOMA, Wash. – Lewis & Clark College women's lacrosse scored the first 13 goals of the game in a 15-2 non-conference victory over the University of Puget Sound on Saturday afternoon in Tacoma.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore
Mack Searle, junior
Aviana Gonzales and first-year
Ala Cross all recorded hat tricks to lead the River Otters. Searle scored four goals and won 13 of the game's 20 draw controls. Gonzales added three goals and two assists for a team-high five points. Cross finished with three goals and one assist for four points.
Senior
Kate Meinhard contributed two goals and an assist, while junior
Sage Swegle scored twice and led the team with five caused turnovers. Junior
Finley Allen added a goal and an assist.
Cross opened the scoring at the 14:32 mark of the first quarter with an unassisted goal. Searle added two goals, including one on a free-position attempt, and Swegle and Allen each scored to build a 5-0 lead after one quarter.
The River Otters scored seven times in the second quarter. Cross converted on a man-up opportunity off a feed from Gonzales at 11:41. Searle then scored during a man-down situation, assisted by Allen, to make it 7-0. Meinhard scored at 8:38, and Gonzales struck twice in a 23-second span to push the lead to 10-0. Cross and Swegle each added goals as Lewis & Clark carried a 12-0 advantage into halftime.
Meinhard scored off a Gonzales assist at 9:09 of the third quarter to extend the lead to 13-0. Puget Sound's Cat Schilli scored on a man-up chance at 3:21, assisted by Hailey Woodard, to break the shutout. Searle answered 2:57 later with a goal assisted by Cross to close the period at 14-1.
Maggie Ott scored for the Loggers at 13:15 of the fourth quarter. Gonzales added the final goal for Lewis & Clark at 6:36 to set the final score at 15-2.
Sophomore
Kaitlin McRae started in goal and played the first 30 minutes without allowing a goal, recording one save to earn the win. First-year
Phoebe Labuhn made one save in nearly four minutes of action, and junior
Zoey Hamel-Hyland played the final 26 minutes and allowed two goals.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Six River Otters scored, led by Searle's four goals and Gonzales' five points (3G, 2A).
- Searle won 13 draw controls. Lewis & Clark held a 16-4 advantage on the draw.
- Lewis & Clark outshot Puget Sound 38-8 and held a 32-21 edge in ground balls.
